Human beings are by nature future thinkers. As the American philosopher Dennett described, the human brain is “an anticipation machine” and “making future” is the most important thing it does. Planning for the future gives us a sense of agency and control in an uncertain world, but not all future planning is created equally.

Here at the Corset Economy we LOVE to read. As research for this project we’ve read hundreds of books covering everything from economics, behavioural science, technology and the environment – and built this treasure trove of a bookshelf in the process! We get that many of you are equally curious people interested in better understanding what’s going on in the world, but you don’t always have time to sift through what you should be reading – what books are really worth it?

David Attenborough’s recent documentary on the fate of our planet is powerful, in its message and also its solutions. But it’s solutions need to take into account a systems view beyond just the environmental.
